Kids’ Summer Camp

Exciting summer opportunities for kids!

Pottery Alley has a number of fun & creative week-long workshops for kids this summer!  Be sure to bring your creativity & wear old clothes!

In August we will hold a student art show where each kid can show off some of their favorite art they made this summer to their family and friends.

Summer 2013 Dates

Wheel-throwing for Kids | 9am-11:30am June 3-6 + glazing day, June 21

Fee: $110

Instructor: Rachel Matte

There’s something so magical about watching a lump of clay become a unique object that you’ve created all your own!  Allowing your child to experience this form of pottery will not only teach them a valuable skill, but will also instill a sense of pride in creation.  Plus it’s tons of fun!  Students will learn the basics of working with clay and throwing pottery on a wheel. For both beginner and intermediate levels. Ages 9+

Digital Photography for Kids | 2:00-4:30pm July 8-12 

Fee: $50

Instructor: Mark Vargo

In today’s visual world, photographic artistry is ever present.  This class will teach kids the basics of digital photography, allowing them to effectively express themselves in a digital format. Each day will feature fun projects to develop skills in photography, focusing on the use of light, composition, subject, color in making a photo a work of art.  The week will culminate in students using their new-found skills as they participate in a Photo Safari. We will make prints of each students work throughout the week.  All students must have a digital cameria.  iPhones are acceptable, but a traditional digital camera is preferred. For beginner and intermediate levels. Ages 8+

Handbuilding for Kids | 1:00-3:30pm July 15 – 19

Fee: $100

Instructor: Cindy Gibson

There is nothing more fun than getting covered in clay and allowing your creative energies to take over.  In handbuilding, students will learn the basics of building pottery by hand with fun projects–think play-dough on a grand (and more permanent) scale! For both beginner and intermediate levels. Ages 9+

No child will be considered registered for any of the Kids Camp Classes until a non-refundable $50 deposit is received by Pottery Alley.  The balance of the fee is due no later than the first day of class.
