Pottery Alley is proud to offer classes in a fun, friendly, and informal atmosphere. Students should wear clothes appropriate for painting or housework and be conscious of saggy sleeves and dangling jewelry. Wheel students may wish to bring an old towel and/or an apron to help you keep clean while working.
Beginners will be introduced to pottery basics: tools, terminology, and how to hand-build pieces or create works on the wheel. More experienced potters will learn advanced techniques such as fabricating handles and spouts, fitting lids, trimming appealing functional bases, and more. Classes are open to all students, regardless of skill level unless noted otherwise.

Group Classes
Our monthly classes are held four times a month, with each class occurring during the same day/time each week. Class fees cover the entire month, and make-up days may be held for those who are unable to attend a session, or if there is a holiday that falls on a class day. In the event a make-up day is required, your instructor will coordinate.
Throughout the month, you will make several projects from start to finish, and develop camaraderie with your classmates and instructor while doing it. Your pieces will be fired and ready for glazing prior to your final class. Once the pieces have been glazed, we’ll fire them once more and will contact you when they’re ready for pick-up so that you can take home and enjoy your one-of-a-kind artwork!
Monthly classes may be booked for learning hand-building or for wheel techniques.
Private Classes
For students who prefer more individualized attention, our private classes are held at your own pace, so you can enjoy having the studio and the instructor all to yourself.
Pottery projects take a few weeks to dry, glaze and fire. Once they’re ready, we’ll glaze your pieces according to your specifications and they should be available for pick up within a few weeks.
Private classes may be booked for individual instruction or for couples.
